Close Your Eyes Explore Jazz Funk on Fourth EP

K-pop boy group Close Your Eyes are exploring jazz funk on their fourth EP, “256th Note.” The release is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m., with the band describing the project as an effort to move beyond fixed genre boundaries and show a more natural identity.

The EP takes inspiration from jazz’s sense of freedom and spontaneity. In the genre, musicians can use improvisation to create brief, unexpected moments, and Close Your Eyes said those qualities shaped the new music. The group chose jazz funk because its improvisational character felt suited to them.

Member Minwook discussed the release at a press conference in Seoul held to mark the album’s arrival. He said the group wanted to present who they are naturally instead of being limited to a single musical style. “256th Note” therefore introduces a direction centered on flexibility and experimentation while reflecting the group’s aim to broaden its musical horizons.
