Fin.K.L, Fly to the Sky and Son Ho-young prepare new music activities
Several first-generation K-pop acts are preparing to return with new music activities. Fin.K.L, Fly to the Sky and g.o.d member Son Ho-young are stepping back into the spotlight as the industry is led by younger groups. Their plans go beyond revisiting earlier hits, with new releases and further activities in the works.
Fin.K.L is preparing its first full-group activities in about 21 years. Gemstone E&M announced on Sept. 21 that Lee Hyo-ri, Ock Joo-hyun, Sung Yu-ri and Lee Jin would reunite. The group’s last full-fledged activities were connected to its 2005 digital single “Forever Fin.K.L.” After the group went on hiatus, Lee Hyo-ri and Ock continued as solo singers, while Sung and Lee Jin focused mainly on acting.
Fly to the Sky is also set to return after eight years, and Son Ho-young is scheduled to release a digital single on Oct. 14. Together, the plans mark a notable return for artists associated with K-pop’s first generation, with each act preparing new music rather than limiting its activities to past songs.
