NMIXX’s Jiwoo and Kyujin Recall JYP’s Wide-Ranging Trainee Classes

NMIXX members Jiwoo and Kyujin described parts of JYP Entertainment’s trainee program during a conversation with chef Park Eun-young on her YouTube channel, “Bobeunyoung.” The video was uploaded Tuesday, and the three spoke over packed lunches.

Kyujin said trainees had classes every Saturday, including lessons in dining etiquette, history and IT. When Park asked about the etiquette lessons, Jiwoo and Kyujin explained that they covered dining customs for Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Western settings. Trainees learned how utensils differed between them, as well as where to place them and how to use them.

The singers also discussed monthly evaluations, which could include up to 11 categories. Kyujin said the assessments were demanding, but helped her improve and grow. Their account offers a look at training that extended beyond singing and dancing, combining practical lessons with regular assessments of trainees’ progress.
