Son Ho-young Marks 20 Years as a Solo Artist With “Go Around”

Son Ho-young is marking the 20th anniversary of his solo debut with “Go Around,” a digital single arriving Wednesday. It is his first solo song in about five years. The track reflects a change in outlook for the singer: after years of believing that enough effort could overcome any obstacle, he has come to see that some things may require patience and a different route.

For many years, Son spent eight hours a day practicing vocals. Now 46, he is also preparing to return to the stage as a solo performer. His first solo concert in five years, titled “HORIZON,” is scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at KBS Arena in Gangseo District, western Seoul.

Son became known as one of the five members of g.o.d, which debuted in 1999 under JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin-young. The group made its mark with “To Mother,” followed by popular songs including “Love and Remember,” “Lies” and “Road.” “Go Around” connects Son’s long solo journey with the more measured perspective he has reached along the way.
