SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi to Release New Single “Boyfriend” During Service

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi is set to release “Boyfriend,” a new digital single, at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The track is the latest solo release from the singer since he began military service.

According to Pledis Entertainment, “Boyfriend” is an R&B-based pop song about approaching someone he cares for with care. Hoshi helped write the lyrics, and the song features light shuffle rhythms and synthesizer sounds.

Hoshi enlisted as an active-duty Army soldier on Sept. 16 last year, becoming SEVENTEEN’s fourth member to begin mandatory service. His discharge is scheduled for March 15, 2027. On the day he enlisted, he released “Take a Shot,” a hip-hop track whose lyrics he co-wrote. Pledis has also released his “Fallen Superstar” in November, “Baby, Honey” in March this year, and “Snapback” in June; Hoshi co-wrote and co-composed the latter. Other SEVENTEEN members are pursuing individual projects as the group moves through its members’ service schedules.
