SM Entertainment Announces Legal Action Over Malicious Posts Targeting Winter

SM Entertainment has warned that it will take legal action against malicious content targeting aespa member Winter. The agency said harmful posts involving false information, defamation, insults, personal attacks and sexual harassment continue to appear across online platforms.

After reviewing the situation with legal counsel, SM said it plans to take measures step by step, including filing criminal complaints. The agency stated that it will investigate content posted both in South Korea and abroad, seeking to identify how it was created and distributed and who was responsible. It also said offenders will face a zero-tolerance response without leniency or settlements.

SM named X, Instagram, YouTube, Theqoo, Instiz, DC Inside, Yeoseong Sidae and Nate Pann among the platforms where harmful posts have appeared, while noting that action may also cover other anonymous communities and social media services. The company said it has gathered evidence through its own monitoring and reports submitted by fans via KWANGYA 119. The announcement prompted discussion on Korean online communities, where commenters described the content as excessive and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
