LISA, BTS and Taylor Swift Win at the 2026 VMAs

The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards took place in Los Angeles on September 28 (KST) after more than three hours of performances and award announcements. Madonna led the night with seven wins, including Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter for “Bring Your Love,” and several honors for Confessions II – The Film.

Taylor Swift collected three awards, winning Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” Best Direction for “Opalite,” and Artist Director Honors. She also premiered the music video for “Patient Zero” during the ceremony. LISA won Best Pop for “Dream,” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi, becoming the first female K-pop artist and first K-pop soloist to receive the award. BTS won Song of the Year and Best K-Pop for “SWIM,” then took Best Group.

BTS’s three victories brought its total VMA wins to 13 and marked its fifth Best Group title. Other winners included Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B and Kehlani, Bruno Mars, Ella Langley, Sabrina Carpenter, PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson and Bad Bunny. CORTIS did not win an award, while results and broadcast issues prompted debate on social media, including discussion of the voting process and announcements.
