Rosé and ILLIT Earn Triple Platinum Streaming Certifications in Japan
The Recording Industry Association of Japan has announced new streaming certifications for two K-pop-related releases. BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Bruno Mars’ collaboration “APT.” and ILLIT’s debut song “Magnetic” each received triple platinum status after exceeding 300 million streams in Japan.
The RIAJ introduced its streaming certification system in 2020, adding it to existing programs for physical album shipments and digital downloads. Under the streaming system, a song earns silver certification at 30 million streams, gold at 50 million, and platinum at 100 million. The triple platinum awards for “APT.” and “Magnetic” reflect both songs passing the 300 million-stream threshold.
The latest announcement highlights the streaming milestones reached by the two tracks in Japan. “Magnetic” was released as ILLIT’s debut track, while “APT.” is a collaboration between Rosé and Bruno Mars. The RIAJ’s system measures streaming totals separately from its certification programs for physical albums and digital downloads.
